Beautiful and an Irish Blessing

“Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free! I follow the plan God laid for me. I saw His face, I heard His call, I took His hand and left it all…Holly xoxo

May you find peace now

Thanks Keith. This is a great piece of writing on what it is like at the end. My mother just died a couple of years ago and her passing was remarkably similar. She was also ready to go. She was not depressed. She had just had enough. Most of her friends were dead and she couldn't do what she had always done. She was ready. She had physical issues that were not going to get better. Her decision was a rational one and we respected it. I have seen too many children who don't respect there parents wishes. Here is what they don't understand. There are things worse than dying. I wish you well in this trying time

My dad also died from COPD and I’m still angry about the end of his life - that he had to slowly suffocate to death, and I do mean slowly. Watching someone fade over 5-7 days is cruel. We would never treat our pets this way. Why is this standard of care for humans? How is this “do no harm”?

Even though I lost my mom 13 years ago, I still miss her. So whenever I read about someone else losing their mother, it brings tears to my eyes. My sincere condolences. Your mom sounds like she was an exceptional woman. And I’m so glad you were able to be there with your family.

What a beautiful tribute to your mama! Take care of yourself, and know that she is always in your heart. Deepest sympathy.

It's never easy for those who remain but your mom died surrounded by those she loved and that's all anyone can ask.

Be gentle with each other for the next two months. The first holidays are never easy.
