A Year in the Life
It was just over a year ago that I suspended writing this blog. My reasons were sound then; and now I have new reasons for picking it back up.
Mainly, I missed this blog, missed the writing, and missed the interaction with y’all. I’m still doing the movie thing (on the side — I still have a fulltime job), but I did the heaviest of the heavy lifting last year, and have a bit more free time.
My 2025 was incredibly hectic, but also a lot of fun. As I age (I’m 61 now), I don’t find myself slowing down — at all. I’ve got projects coming out of my ears. That keeps me from “feeling my age.”
Although my body moves a bit slower than it used to, my mind is as active as ever, and constantly working. And my body isn’t actually slowing down that fast — in the past year I’ve added weight training to my cycling hobby, and have added squats to my routine. I’ll give more details of that in the future, but so far, it’s been a real boost to how I feel.
I’ve had some health challenges too, and I’ll update you on those eventually. Overall, however, my health is reasonably good.
I learned a lot about the process and logistics (not to mention the expense) of making films, as well as how to tell stories visually — not just with words, as I used to when I was writing novels. It’s been a fantastic time of discovery. It’s an incredibly intense undertaking, but it pushes me forward, making me want to learn more, do more, and get past making bad movies so I can start making good ones.
So what does 2026 have in store for me? I have absolutely no idea. That’s a good thing. What I do know is that it’ll be another busy year. As I get older, that feels like a key — the key? — to fighting off the effects of the looming Oldpocalypse.

This really nails it about staying engaged being the antidote to aging. Adding weight training at 61 is no joke, thats commited. The filmmaking thing makes sense too because learning a totally new skillset keeps the brain from getting complacent, which seems way more important than just 'staying busy' with stuff you alredy know.
Keith GO FOR IT NOW!
I had the same exp. at 61... I just turned 72 and the DIFF between 70 and 72 is 'sit me by the fire with a book...' almost... BE HERE NOW! the man said.
